When to replace a filter

Filters are the first thing to check for cloudy water and flow codes. Lay-Z-Spa's E02 guide and Intex's E90 guide both start with the cartridge, and Hot Spring's water troubleshooting table lists dirty filters first for cloudy water. Your spa's manual gives its own cleaning and replacement schedule.

Replace a cartridge when it won't come clean, the pleats are torn or flattened, the end caps are cracked, or the spa only heats or flows properly with it removed.

Filters and water care we source

Filter cartridges

Replacement cartridges matched by length, diameter, core and end caps (or the number on your old cartridge).

Common sign: Cloudy water, flow codes, or a cartridge that won't come clean.

Inflatable spa filter cartridges

Cartridges for inflatable spas such as Lay-Z-Spa and Intex, matched to your pump unit.

Common sign: Flow errors (E02, E90) that clear with the cartridge removed.

Filter housings, lids & baskets

Skimmer and filter housings, lids, baskets and standpipes for many spa models.

Common sign: Cracked lid or basket, or a standpipe that won't seal.

Ozonators & UV

Ozone generators, injectors and UV units matched to your spa and control.

Common sign: No bubbles at the ozone jet, or a reminder to change the UV.

Why the exact size matters

Cartridges that look the same can differ by a quarter inch in length or have a different core or thread. A too-short or wrong-ended cartridge lets dirty water bypass the filter. The number on the end cap, or careful measurements, gets you the right one.

Where to find the model and part numbers

  • Most cartridges have a part number printed on the end cap or the pleats. Photograph it.
  • No number? Measure the length, outside diameter and the hole size at each end, and note whether the ends are open, closed or threaded.
  • Turn the spa off before removing the filter.

Common questions

How do I find my hot tub filter size?

Look for a part number on the end cap or pleats. If there isn't one, measure the length, outside diameter and the hole at each end, and note whether the ends are open, closed or threaded. Send us that, or a photo with a tape measure, and we'll match it.

Do you have filters for inflatable spas?

Yes. Tell us the spa or pump model (for example a Lay-Z-Spa or Intex model) and we'll match the right cartridges.

Can you match an old filter with no label?

Usually. Measurements plus your spa's model let us find the right cartridge or a compatible one, and your quote says which.
