Power out? Electric utilities in San Diego

If your electric bill comes from a different utility, a co-op or a city utility, use its outage page instead.

How Hot Tub Helpline works in San Diego

We're a video service, not a local shop, and we don't have an office in San Diego. You book a call, point your phone at the topside, the filter and (with the power off) the equipment bay, and a real hot tub tech guides you by voice. Many problems can be diagnosed, and often fixed, in one call. If yours needs hands-on work, we'll help you find a local pro.

Flat prices, shown before you book: Quick Fix $49 · Full Diagnostic $89 · Priority Fix $139.

Outage or a tripped GFCI?

When your hot tub goes dark in San Diego, first work out whether it's the spa or the grid. If the neighbors and streetlights are out too, it's an outage: report it to your utility (links above). If everyone else has power, check the spa's GFCI and your breaker panel. SRP, Arizona's big utility, puts it simply: if your breakers are tripped or your neighbors have power, the problem is likely inside your property. A GFCI that won't reset is a job for a licensed electrician (see GFCI keeps tripping).

When the power comes back, check the topside for messages. Many utilities, SRP among them, suggest turning off appliances during an outage so there's no surge when power is restored.

Mild weather, year-round soaking in San Diego

Mild weather means spas in San Diego get used all year, which puts the wear on filters, pumps and water care rather than on freeze protection. Most calls we expect here are flow and heating problems (a clogged filter is the usual suspect), cloudy water, and GFCI trips. On hot inland days, watch for overheat messages: Balboa's "water too hot" message trips at 110°F and points to long pump run times or high outdoor temperatures.

Common questions

Do you have a hot tub technician in San Diego?

Our techs help by video, from anywhere. You show the tech your hot tub with your phone and they guide you by voice. If the job needs someone on site, we'll help you find a local pro.

Who do I contact when the power goes out in San Diego?

Your electric utility. In San Diego that's usually SDG&E. Use the outage page on its website (linked on this page) or the number on your bill. If only your hot tub is off and your neighbors have power, check the spa's GFCI and your breaker instead.
